Moonstone

     Moonstone is an opalescent variety of Orthoclase.  It has a blue and white sheen, somewhat like the Moon.  This sheen is created by the reflection of light from Moonstone's internal structure.  
     It is made up of alternating layers of Albite and Orthoclase Feldspar.  Thin Albite layers give it an attractive blue color.  White thicker layers produce a white "Moon" effect.
